GR8 Campaign (1 of 3)
Sobeys
2010
Sobeys has started a campaign to reduce the amount of plastic bags that each of its stores uses on a yearly basis. In order to accomplish this they are asking their employees and customers to become GR8. The GR8 campaign requires employees to put an average of 8 items in each bag they pack at the register. It promotes the bags-4-life program that they currently have running which pushes the use of reusable bags and it also highlights the bag-2-bag program, in which customers can come in and recycle their old plastic bags. We went with a clean and effective logo which could be used with the tag line “Doing GR8 things for the environment” as well as could be reflected in the curves and corners of the posters and signage used for promotion. Overall this campaign is simple to understand and is fun, vibrant and eye catching. A clearly communicated message will make for a successful environmental message.
